i.s.t.a.a. has been honoured to be invited by the Catalan Agency for Tourism (ACT) of the Generalitat de Catalunya, partner of i.s.t.a.a., to be part of the Advisory Board called to discuss and help in the design and implementation of important initiatives in the Sports Tourism field, thanks to the joint expertise and know-how of our members in sports travel.
The first meeting was held on 12 July in Barcelona where a number of plans were presented. Coinciding with the Olympic Year 2020 and with a focus on the planned candidature of Pirineus-Barcelona for the 2030 Winter Games, The ACT wants to declare 2020 the Year of Sports Tourism in Catalonia, highlighting the values inherent to sports such as: equality, inclusion, accessibility, innovation and healthy life habits, amongst others.
Being the territory an ideal destination for sports activities, competitions and professional trainings as well as for meetings and congresses, one of the key actions planned by the the Board is the organisation of a World Congress in Sports Tourism.
